President Donald Trump, today criticized the “sickly alliance” of the media with “rude” congressman Ilhan Omar and the “radical left”, after the controversy unleashed by the racist chants in one of the president’s meetings.
“It’s amazing how Fake Media went crazy with the ‘send them back’ (to their country of origin) chant by a crowd that filled a stadium in the Great State of North Carolina, but is totally calm and accepts the most infamous and unpleasant comments from the three Radical Congressmen” said Trump on his Twitter account.
The president accused Omar of being “rude” and of “hating” the country.
“Generalist media, which have lost all their credibility, have officially or unofficially become part of the Democratic Party of the Radical Left, it is an unhealthy alliance, so pathetic to contemplate!” He added.
“Send hert back! Send her back!” Were the racist chants chanted on Wednesday against Ohmar, a young Muslim congresswoman born in Somalia but of US nationality, in an election ceremony by Trump, which stoked tension and political polarization in the country ahead of the 2020 elections.
With his new messages, the president seemed to back down today after dialing distance Thursday with the slogans intoned by his followers.
“I did not like listening to that song,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday, and boasted that he had “started talking very early” to stop them, even though the video shows that he left the phrase he rang for thirteen seconds and did not resume his speech until the chants died.
Congresswoman Omar, meanwhile, called Trump “fascist” and stressed that in the US “democratic dissent should be allowed”.
“We have said that this president is racist, we have condemned his racist statements, I think he is (also) fascist,” Omar told reporters at the Capitol.
The controversy has been growing since Trump attacked a group of four young Democratic congressmen, known as “The Squad”: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, African-American Ayanna Pressley, Muslim Rashida Tlaib and the aforementioned Omar.
Congress members are part of the most progressive wing of the Democratic Party and have launched ambitious proposals with little legislative track, such as the billionaire “New Green Pact” to combat the climate crisis or a public plan of universal health coverage, and has criticized the alliance of the US with Israel.
