Houston (USA), Dec. 6 – The face and the cross continued one more day within the NBA with the brothers Juancho and Willy Hernangómez after the first one had minutes of action and the second is still relegated to the bench .
Juancho, who played games on consecutive nights with the Denver Nuggets, this time against the Boston Celtics, could not avoid defeating his team as a visitor (108-95), but remained in the rotation of the reserves used by the coach Michael Malone.
The 24-year-old Madrid player played 20 minutes in which he contributed seven points after scoring 3 of 9 field shots, including a triple of five attempts, without going to the personnel line.
Juancho also captured three rebounds – two defensive ones – lost a ball and committed two personal fouls.
So far this season, the fourth as a professional in the NBA, Juancho has played 13 games, none as a starter, and has achieved averages of 4.3 points and 2.5 rebounds with 10 minutes of action per game.
While his older brother has not been able to convince the Charlotte Hornets coach, the Hispanic James Borrego, who can be useful in the field and so far this season, and has sidelined him to the bench, without giving him just minutes.
The former Real Madrid player also didn’t have them tonight when the Hornets faced the Brooklyn Nets at home and lost 104-111, the third loss they suffered in the last four games played.
Willy, 25, who has also been in the NBA for four seasons, has barely played seven games, the last one he played last November 30 against the Milwaukee Bucks, and they have averages of 3.4 points and 3.0 rebounds with 15.74 minutes per encounter.
The oldest of the Hernangómez brothers, in what has been his worst start to the season since he came to the NBA, has already assumed that it has become the third option that Borrego has established among the team’s tall men.
Borrego has preferred, first to Cody Zeller, as headline, and after being injured, the position was occupied by Congolese Bismack Biyombo, who remains in it.
Given this scenario, Willy’s opportunity to have more minutes and to be able to show his class in the field would only happen if either of his two classmates suffered some kind of physical problem or injury.
