A 28-year-old man was killed and at least four others were injured Sunday in a nightclub shooting in Hartford, Connecticut, police said.
“The victim of the murder is a 28-year-old man,” Hartford Police said on its Twitter account about the incident early Sunday morning.
According to the information, a man and a woman had to be operated on, while the other two survivors remained in stable condition.
CNN reported that the shooting was apparently triggered by an altercation between two groups at the scene, without further details.
Hartford Police Lt. Paul Cicero said, as quoted by CNN, that this was not a random shooting and considered it premature to anticipate whether the incident was gang-related.
Local station WTNH-TV said that no possible suspects have been revealed so far and that surveillance cameras will be essential in the investigation of the causes and perpetrators of the attack.
Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin said, according to WTNH, that the dispute “turned deadly because the individuals were in possession of illegal weapons”.
WTNH noted that the Majestic Lounge nightclub was promoting a Latino Saturday on its Facebook page to celebrate the birthday of the Aquarius sign people.
