Houston (USA), Feb. 19 – NFL offensive tackle Greg Robinson was arrested Wednesday in a Texas state jail on a pending drug distribution charge, according to official records.

Robinson, a 27-year-old former player, who played for the Cleveland Browns last season, was registered by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on Tuesday after federal agents said they found 157 pounds of marijuana in a rented vehicle in which he and two other people were traveling.

According to jail records El Paso County, Robinson and Jaquan Tyreke Bray, 26, were accused of possessing marijuana with the intention of selling.

Bray played college football in Auburn and spent three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, said a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer.
Both were held without bail, and if convicted, could receive a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison.

According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday by the DEA, Robinson, Bray and a third person who have not yet released his name, drove a rented sports vehicle on Monday and headed from Los Angeles to Louisiana on Interstate 10 to through a remote section of western Texas.

When they passed a Border Patrol agent with a drug tracker, the dog detected the smell of marijuana. The agent radioed the patrol checkpoint near Sierra Blanca (Texas), 83 miles southeast of El Paso.

There an officer stopped them and inspected the vehicle, he found several large canvas bags containing vacuum-sealed black bags, which tested positive for marijuana, according to the complaint.

The authorities also found glass jars and packaging equipment, along with $ 3,100 in cash.

The unidentified person was an Uber driver running errands for Robinson and his family and friends.

He showed the agents text messages that showed Robinson had offered him a payment to claim the property of the marijuana, according to the complaint.

The texts showed that the passenger refused and said he would not have made the trip if he had been aware that there was a drug in the vehicle. The person was not charged.

The Rams selected Robinson with the second overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, and began the last two seasons as a left tackle for the Browns.
Last season, Robinson was sent to the bench for a game and another was lost due to a concussion.
